It was a beautiful spring day on the waters of Lake Murray, and I was excited to take Fernando Alvarez and his friend out for a day of Striper fishing. April is a prime time to target these hard-fighting, acrobatic fish, as the warming waters have them actively feeding. We met up at Clarks Hill bright and early, got the boat loaded, and headed out to put the lines in.

As soon as we started jigging and working our light tackle, the Stripers started showing up. It didn't take long before Fernando's rod doubled over with the hard pull of a nice fish. He kept his cool and worked it in skillfully, and soon we had a beautiful Striped bass in the boat. The action stayed steady, and we kept catching fish using a variety of techniques. Even when the bite would slow down for a bit, we'd find them again by trying a new spot or presentation.

The weather was perfect - partly cloudy skies kept things comfortable, and the calm waters made for a smooth, enjoyable ride. Between catching fish, we had a great time just chatting and taking in the serene lake scenery.
